What’s great about living in northeast Ohio is all of the agriculture and tradition.  Why not start a new family tradition and take your children to visit a working farm, apple orchard or a sugar shack close to Cleveland?  Pick your own berries, apples or pumpkins.  There is so much to learn about while having fun!

Heavenly Hill Farm – Pick your own apples and pears, Honey from hives on the farm.  They have restrooms, a bouncy castle or moon bounce, birthday parties and tours.  Hayrides begin in September and run through October 31st.

Patterson’s Fruit Farm the farm market is open year round to provide a bountiful supply of crisp and tasty apple varieties, apple cider, maple syrup, fresh bakery, fresh fruits and vegetables in season.   Pick your own strawberries, peaches, apples seasonally.

Family Fun Fest– the outdoor farm fun area is designed for families with preschool and elementary age children.  Play in the hay stacks, climb in the tree house in the woods and slide down the 50 foot double slide, wander through the corn maze or take a nature hike through the ravines and hills of Geauga County. The admission fee includes a wagon ride.  There’s also a horse drawn wagon ride can take you around the farm on a first come first serve basis from the fest. Availability depends on the horses and conditions. During public hours you can also paint a pumpkin for a fee.  The fest is open on weekends in September and October.Call or check the website for hours and prices.

Blue Jay Orchard – 140 Plus Acres of over 36 varieties of apples and pumpkins.   And a Farm Market that sells a variety of store baked pies and goodies, local honey, maple syrup and more.  A pre-K tour is an introduction to “Life on the Farm” .  They also have a pumpkin tour.  The farm is open for pick-your-own fun from August thru October.

Eddy Fruit Farm – Pick-your-own apples and grapes. Over 35 varieties of apples, 8 varieties of pears, 18 varieties of peaches, grapes, plums, black berries and raspberries. Also have locally grown sweet corn and vegetables, apple cider and grape juice when in season. The store carries maple syrup, honey and a variety of jelly and dressings. Pies and cookies are freshly baked during the fall season. Pumpkins as well as other fall time decorations are available too.

Hillside Orchard & Farm Market – Pick-Your-Own blueberries and apples.  Group field trips, hayrides through the orchard, past berry patches and pumpkin patches and melon patches, corn fields and rows of tomatoes.  Annual “Harvest Festival” is held the second weekend of October. Greenfield Berry Farm – Uses natural growing practices, blueberries, raspberries, Honey from hives on the farm, school tours, gather your own potatoes and cut your own sunflowers.  They also sell lip balm (made with honey and beeswax from their own hives), syrup and garlic.  Crops are usually available in July, August, September, October, and November.
