Area Parks and Playgrounds

Bainbridge/Auburn:

  • Bear Town Lakes Park – 306 (south) to Taylor May Road (east), past four-way stops at Haskins and Snyder, right (south) on Quinn Road, past stop sign, directly into park. Shelters, paved trails, hiking trails, toilet facilities, shade.
  • Eldon Russell Park – 422 east past La Due Reservoir turn left (north) on Rapids Road, 2.5 miles to entrance on the right. Playground is in the back of the park close to Chagrin River, shade, picnic tables, hiking trails, toilet facilities.
  • Federated Family Life Center – 306 between E. Washington and Bell. Two playgrounds: a fenced one adjacent to the building is for public use and well-suited to ages 1-3. Other playground has little shade. No swings. FLC building is not always open (mostly open on weekday AMs), so toilet facilities are not always available.
  • Gardiner School Playground – 306 to Bainbridge Road (east), past flashing light (Haskins) and four-way stop (Snyder), school is on the right side. Nice play area, picnic tables, no shade, no toilets.
  • Kenston Early Learning Center Playground – off of 306 in Bainbridge behind ELC and firehouse. Nice small play area for small children, swings, two picnic tables, no shade, no toilets.
  • River Road Park-Chagrin River Rd and Bainbridge Rd, next to big red barn. There are paved trails for walking, riding bikes, etc. Playground equipment for all ages. Picnic shelter and port-a-potties.
  • Settlers Park – 306 to Bainbridge Road (east), turn right (south) on Haskins (flashing light), go over 422, park is first road on right side. Shelter house, playground, toilet facilities, no shade.
  • Timmons School Playground – 306 to Washington Road (east), past stop light at Snyder, continue until you see the sign on the right. Playground is behind school. Swings, equipment for older children, no toilets and little shade.

Chagrin Falls/South Russell:

  • Chagrin Falls Village Park (Riverside Park) – Downtown Chagrin Falls along the river, enter across from the Popcorn Shop. Newer playground, swings, some shade, no toilets in the park, benches, ducks to feed. Close to river.
  • Gurney School Playground – 306 north to Bell Road, turn left (west), look for a sign on the right for Gurney School. Fun big play area with slides, mazes and a wooden fort. Watch out for bees in the summer time.

Aurora:

  • Aurora Farms Outlet playground – near Carter’s & Children’s Place stores, near large pond in center of outlet stores; toilets facilities nearby. Come feed the fish!
  • Kiwanis-Moore Park – 306 south past 43, turn right (west) at the Pioneer Trails traffic light, turn left before the firehouse. Lots of shade. Pavilion, four playground structures, benches, picnic tables, skate park, toilet facilities.
  • Sunny Lakes – 306 south past 43, turn left (east) at the Pioneer Trails traffic light, turn right (south) on Page Road. Paved trails around lake, swings along trails, toilet facilities.

Solon/Orange:

  • Orange Park – 422 west to Harper/Cochran Roads exit, turn right (north), turn right at Miles, a very short distance to the 1st left (Lander Road), turn left off of Lander after the Fire Station and follow the road back to the park. Playground, picnic tables, toilet facilities, walking trails and some shade.
  • Solon Community Park – 422 West to 91/SOM Center Road, turn south, go past 43, park is on the left – playground, volleyball court (sandbox-bring toys), shelter, toilet facilities.

Russell:

  • West Geauga Commons – 306 north before W. Geauga H.S.. Park is on left – playground, pavilion, toilets.

Worth the drive:

  • Elmwood Park – Located in Independence. Take 480 West, 77 South, and take a right at the Pleasant Valley exit. Take a left at Route 21/Brecksville Road. Take a left at Selig Drive. Park will be located on your right. This park has a permanent safety town road with stop signs and traffic lights! Bring your child’s bikes!
  • Middlefield’s Eagle Park – 18 miles from Chagrin Falls. Take 87 east, past West Woods, past downtown Burton, past Geauga County fairgrounds. Remain on 87, enter Middlefield, look for Springdale Avenue. Go north (left) and park is on your left (parking on right). Sprinklers are on from 10am to 8pm during summer months. Bring the swimsuits as it’s a “sprayground” park. Free of charge. Two splash pad areas, a large playground area, paved walking paths, gazebo, toilet facilities. Many picnic tables with shade.
  • Preston’s H.O.P.E. – 7 miles from Chagrin Falls. 26001 S. Woodland Ave, Beachwood, on campus of Mandel JCC. Largest fully accessible playground park in Northeast Ohio. Free and open to the public. Newly built with many slides, swings, numerous playhouses, sand, and unique play areas. It can be tough if you have more than one child as the park is large. Limited shade.

If your family lives in (or near) the Chagrin Valley and are expecting a child or have at least one child younger than kindergarten age, come join our group! We provide a wide array of options for parents in the Chagrin Valley - playgroups, parties, mom's night out, parent's night out, weekly events, parties, family picnics, and lots more.

Playgroups

CVECA helps connect moms with similar-aged children and similar interests in the form of playgroups and special interest groups.

Members run the playgroups themselves, and many groups become quite close and last years! Find out more about our playgroups.
